Strategic Opportunities and Career Planning

Aid for atypical projects decisive for career planning and development and for the exploitation of the work. These projects may include a number of activities and take place over a long period.

Alberta Foundation for the Arts

The Artists and Education funding supports Alberta schools by subsidizing fees of professional Alberta artists of any artistic discipline that provide interactive arts residency projects for grades K-12.

The Prince Edward Arts Scholarship provides funding to students who are Saskatchewan residents and who have been accepted or have applied to study or train in arts programs at accredited post-secondary institutions or recognized arts training institutions.

BC Arts Council

Arts Circulation and Touring (Individuals and Organizations) supports eligible arts and curatorial collectives, individuals and arts and culture organizations with circulation and touring activities both within British Columbia and outside of the province. Grants are intended to enhance professional and artistic opportunities and exposure of B.C. artists and collectives regionally, nationally, and internationally.

The Scholarship Program supports education and training of B.C.’s future generation of artists, arts administrators, and arts and cultural practitioners. B.C. residents enrolled in full-time post-secondary art programs or high school half-day pre-professional dance programs are welcome to apply.

Canada Council

The Small-Scale Activities component of Creating, Knowing and Sharing funds activities that will advance your artistic career or practice. This may include acquiring materials for artistic production, engaging in career or artistic development activities or benefitting from specific expertise, advice or training from a professional artist or cultural carrier. This component is open to First Nations, Inuit and Métis individuals, artistic groups, collectives and organizations working in all disciplines.

Canada Council

The Travel component of Creating, Knowing and Sharing funds First Nations, Inuit and Métis artists, arts/cultural professionals (including artists’ representatives), cultural carriers, artistic groups, collectives and organizations working in all disciplines. Grants support travel costs to attend significant events within Canada or abroad that advance your professional development, enable you or the artists you represent to access new markets or build national and international presence.

The Concept to Realization component of Explore and Create supports the full creative cycle – from the initial idea through to presentation, at any stage of the creative continuum. Canadian artists, artistic groups and arts organizations can apply to create projects intended for presentation. Grants provide support for artistic research, creation, project development, remounts, production, post-production and presentation.

Indigenous Arts Projects is a multidisciplinary program supporting professional Indigenous artists, ad hoc groups, collectives, and organizations to research, develop, and create new work. The presentation and sharing of Indigenous artistic work and initiatives strengthens and enriches the arts and culture overall, while benefiting both Indigenous artists and their communities.

Indigenous Artists in Communities and Schools Projects is a multidisciplinary program supporting projects that bring together Ontario-based professional Indigenous artists and arts professionals in communities and schools to provide access to the arts and create meaningful art experiences that transmit Indigenous artistic skills and cultural knowledge to participants.

This Skills and Career Development - Indigenous Arts Professionals and Arts professionals of colour program supports Ontario-based Indigenous arts professionals and arts professionals of colour, or ad hoc groups and collectives made up of Indigenous arts professionals or arts professionals of colour for professional development and skill-building opportunities that advance applicants’ work and careers.

The Newcomer and Refugee Arts Engagement program provides targeted funding to Toronto non-profit organizations and artist collectives engaging newcomers and refugees through the arts, supporting the integration and inclusion of newcomer communities to Toronto.

The Newcomer and Refugee Artist Mentorship program provides support for newcomer and refugee artists to develop their artistic practice and to further their integration and inclusion to Toronto. We define a newcomer as: an immigrant or refugee who has lived in Canada for less than 7 years; a refugee is a person who was forced to leave their home country and is now located in Canada.

Alberta Foundation for the Arts

This Art Acquisitions program provides support for individual Alberta artists or an ensemble of artists through the purchase of their artwork as a permanent part of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) Art Collection.

The Media Artists Creation Projects program supports individual professional Ontario-based media artists/directors working with film, video, audio, digital, new media, video and electronic games, and virtual reality as independent artist-controlled art forms in the production and post-production phases of their projects.

The Translation component of Arts Across Canada funds activities linked to the translation of Canadian literary works or dramatic works into French, English, an Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Métis) language, American Sign Language (ASL), Quebec Sign Language (LSQ), or any other regional Canadian or Indigenous sign language for Canadian publication or presentation.

Grant amount: Up to $25 000 for each translation, plus an Annual Supplement for targeted costs.

Black Entrepreneur Startup Program – Futurpreneur

Designed for Black entrepreneurs aged 18-39, this program offers startup loan financing, mentorship for up to two years, and access to networking opportunities across Canada. Funded by RBC and BDC, it provides vital financial and professional support to early-stage Black businesses.
